Virtual Exhibition: "Invisible Threads"

Curators for this Exhibitions: Susan Wilson / Jessie S.Martin

April – June 2025

Essay by Jessie S.Martin

Invisible Threads brings together a vibrant constellation of contemporary artists working across disciplines — from the tactile strength of sculpture and fibre art to the fluid expressiveness of oil, acrylic, digital painting, and photography. This exhibition is built around a quiet but profound question: what connects us, even when our languages differ?

At first glance, these works may appear disparate. Their materials, styles, and subjects range from the abstract to the deeply figurative, from the raw and organic to the refined and surreal. But within that diversity lies a deeper conversation — one that emerges not from similarity, but from resonance.

Each piece in Invisible Threads holds its own space and identity. Some evoke personal memory, others reflect on collective emotion or cultural narratives. There are works that whisper through minimalism, and others that shout with layered intensity. Yet, when seen together, something happens: a subtle harmony, a web of shared intuition, begins to form.

The “invisible threads” are not literal — they are emotional, symbolic, psychological. They manifest in the tensions between fragility and strength, silence and expression, solitude and connection. They are the moments where two works, though unrelated in form, mirror each other in feeling. Where colour, texture or gesture seem to breathe the same air.

This exhibition challenges the need for a singular narrative. Instead, it offers multiplicity as its strength. It embraces the tension between contrast and cohesion, inviting the viewer to become an active participant — to trace their own path through the space, guided not by logic, but by instinct.

In a world often demanding immediate clarity, Invisible Threads encourages something slower, deeper, and more felt. It is a curated invitation to notice what we usually overlook — the silent connections between works, between artists, and ultimately, between us all.

Step inside. Pause. Let the echoes find you.
