VOF de Kunst is opgericht in 1983. Meteen in dit jaar staat de band binnen 4 weken nummer 1 in de hitlijsten met ‘Suzanne’. ‘Suzanne’ blijkt een internationale hit en zo reist VOF de Kunst in 1984 als The Art Company maandenlang door bijna alle Europese landen. Van ‘Susanna’ worden wereldwijd drie miljoen exemplaren verkocht. Enkele jaren later wordt dit succes nog eens dunnetjes over gedaan met ‘Eén kopje koffie’.
