For most of us, it’s the first time in our life that we have a nice smile, and that’s wonderful!I think that by reading what I have to say will give you a different slant on things; it’s a big decision, and I don’t believe a person can get too much information.Dentures are false teeth – there’s no getting around that – but they have certainly improved over the years. It doesn’t seem like very long ago when they looked like over-sized chiclets: they all seemed to be the same size, and very white of course.Today, dentures are made to closely resemble the teeth you have lost. When I first got mine I was amazed at the resemblance, then I remember the denturist asking me previously if I wanted the same imperfections built into the dentures, and I said yes.You will notice little change in your appearance; dentures can even improve the look of your smile by filling out your face a little.One thing is for sure – you will have much nicer dentures than George Washington. It was once thought that his were made of wood, but researchers have done laser scans on his dentures and found they are made of gold, ivory, lead, and human and animal teeth.Horse and donkey teeth were common, and the dentures had springs to help it open and bolts to hold it together. George Washington started losing his teeth when he was in his twenties.
