People Search Now Is Easier Than Ever
The advantage of using an online people search now is that you can get results instantly. In the past, without the use of the internet, you would have had to hire a private investigator to get your information, and that could have cost you hundreds of dollars. Hiring a private investigator does not provide instant results and you would probably have had to wait a few days to a few weeks for your information. Online people locate engines allow you to track someone down instantly, and from the comfort of your own home.
There are a few ways to find information about a person without spending any money. Social sites such as www.myspace.com, www.linkedin.com and www.facebook.com allow you to type the name of the person you are looking for into their search box. Depending on whether they are a member and on their privacy settings, sometimes you can get a result that will help you. Many times though, the information is kept private.
To begin, you can Google a name in quotations, such as “John Doe.” This works best for names that are common or names that are better known. Quotations usually aren’t necessary if the person’s name is more unusual. Gmail, Google’s email service, also lets you do basic searches for people, and is a great way to sort through those contacts you might already have information on. For the best free people search engine, Google is a handy resource.
The website www.spock.com first debuted in April 2007. In addition to searching the Web, the site also includes options for users to input additional information about people, such as relevant links and tags. It would appear that the site still has some work to do in gathering data from more sources, since a people search now provided scant results compared to Google.
Another site, www.zoominfo.com has almost fifty listings in its business-oriented directory; from consultants to engineering to logistics, quality management and business development. It is focused on tracking careers and the different places that people have worked. The results can sometimes go more than ten years into the past. Digging a little deeper, when you click on a profile, you see information about businesses, although in some cases, the wrong address and phone number were provided.
The site www.yoname.com searches the major social networks to return results similar to www.peekyou.com. The site was successful in finding profiles for several social networking accounts including www.facebook.com, www.myspace.com, www.linkedin.com and Yahoo, and also gives you the option to do a public records search through Intelius, although it is a pay service if you want to see detailed results.
Not typically thought of, yet helpful all the same, are people searches using reverse phone number look ups. You simply plug in the land line or cell phone number and it will return results based on that information. For more detailed information however, you will be required to pay a fee. This may be worthwhile for you if you are in urgent need of the information. Depending on the site, a people search now offered on free sites maybe able to provide you with just enough data to give you what you need.
