The Smiths “These things take time”
Live performances sync’d to the Peel session recording together with introductory Morrissey comment on Art
Morrissey on “Art” – To me modern art means absolutely nothing, I find no emotion, no gentility, no sensitivity in modern art. For me personally all the things that are of creative value occurred a long time ago. What makes me sad is that many people don’t really consider popular music to be an art form. Many people who are involved in the business, disc jockeys, journalists, people in record companies, they don’t consider popular music “rock music” to be an art form. I think it can be, and I think it can be THE greatest art form.

This is my absolute favourite Smiths track, it is so full of energy. This version is a million times better than the anaemic version on Louder than Bombs.

Yes, I still don’t …
Yes, I still don’t quite get how unique The Smiths sound. They don’t copy anything, and nobody ever could copy their sound.
They weren’t new wave, not punk, not college rock and not post-punk.
