a cranky old man who doesn’t understand art. ok…

music is the single most non representational form of art there is. notes and melodies don’t represent ANYTHING. it’s pure form.

once you get why you enjoy music…you can enjoy abstract art.

Bravo! Modern art is rubbish! I could probably spill a pot of paint on a piece of paper and then sell it for millions. It isn’t art, it’s crap!

The general theme of Modern Art was, or in some people’s opinions is, to generate new ideas regardless of quality. I reject that notion and would rather invest my time in honing my skills.

    I don’t understand …
I don’t understand how Picasso’s student drawings, which are competent but dully academic, somehow license his post-cubist constructions, such as the woman’s head in Chicago–one of his less successful works, imho. Rooney doesn’t understand that modern art is a self-referencing tradition that continually draws on what has come before, of which he is ignorant. Rooney thinks he’s speaking sense in a temple of pretentious jargon, but he’s really just a philistine bragging of his ignorance.

    There’s no such …
There’s no such thing as a thick line. A line is a one-dimensional object. What you’re calling a “thick line” is actually a thin rectangle.

  24. chandru1103 Says:

there are a lot of …
there are a lot of different lines. Clean lines, Gritty lines, Thick Lines, Thin Lines, Light lines, Dark lines, and all of them suggest something different. Mathematics has very little to do with artistic lines, it’s about thoughts.

  25. unhealthytruthseeker Says:

    A line is a line is …
A line is a line is a line, unless you’re willing to generalize the notion of a line to geodesics on arbitrary Riemannian manifolds, then a “line” can be a great circle, a parabola, and many other things.
