Why is this style called Impressionism?
please i need to know for a french project!

All artists paint light.

They trick your eye with light shade and hues.

Monet and a few other artists used dabs, stokes of colour to create an IMPRESSION of a scene.
A feeling as well as a view.

Impression of sunrise seems to be Monet’s 1st work noted for Impressionist work.
A critique of that work stressed the term IMPRESSIONist and used it almost in annoyingly detrimental terms, but the term stuck.

Most people appreciate the freedom in such works and the feelings that impressionism evokes.

Sometimes it is easy to do and other times it just will not happen.I know because i paint in this "style" occasionally.

You can view some of my works on my 360 or follow links there if you are interested.I also Pot and sculpt in clay.

Good luck with your homework.
