What would be some ALBUMS that would be examples of IMPRESSIONISM in music?

March 6th, 2010 by admin

Those who have studied Painting know what Impressionism is. It is painting with broad strokes to let the mind of the observer fill in the details. It works with the mind as an equal partner – by only giving the gist of the scene to the mind.

What are some albums that are kind of like this?

Astral Weeks – Van Morrison
Viva La Vida – Coldplay

Well, I know computer music shows some echoing of impressionism.
I assume you know a lot about that. You know, Autobahn, and all that.
Although Emerson Lake and Palmer’s song "Trilogy" has some really impressionistic (does that term work here?) piano in it. King Crimson told me that one.
