Can anybody tell me anything about Impressionism?
I have an art project on impressionism and do not know where to start. Help!
Start with Pointalism,impasto,oil’s and then see impressionism.
Dab Daub and brush stroke.
All artists of the realist type ! use light to show you their magic,in impressionism that light can be made from single colours and or combinations of colours in close proximity.
Screw your eyes up and view the world through them.
Defocus a camera lens slightly and see the shapes and forms and colours of objects and nature.
Impressionism does this,but key to that,it also gives you the IMPRESSION of being there,a feeling as wel as a view.
You can look up all you will online,but you are far better off going and viewing one of these mens works for real.
Stand before those works and see for yourself.
You can learn all the terms and their meanings,you can be the richest owner of works of art,but never appreciate the "feeling" conveyed by that work.
Get off ya butt and go see as many of them as you can,and go see todays works by other artists and see how you "feel"

Impressionism is an art movement, especially in painting, wherein the artist deviates from the "formal" themes of realism and previous styles, and focuses on the way light leaves an impression on an object. That is, it’s more on the visual perception of light on an object at a certain point.
The founder of this movement is Claude Monet with the painting "Impressions: Sunset". Other notable impressionists are Camille Pissaro and Renoir.
