As we all may see, such geniuses as Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, and many many others, were painting exactly the spirit of the things, being totally free in their way of expression.     There is a lot of transference between what you say about art, and musical composition. I feel like much of it is applicable to my art (music). You should check out my roommate’s painting. He’s a fledgling artist but I’d say he’s pretty good. Search “2astronauts”. Good video.

    Thank you. I have painted some satisfactory work, but am facing an obstacle because my next goal seems to be so far that I am discouraged of going on painting.
    I listened to this with my eyes closed and was almost hypnotized. My goals are still far ahead, but I now have confidence to keep at it.

    balarat84, talking art IS art, I could describe colours easily, I can mix them proficiently, put them to canvas. But….. art if from within and when we translate spirit to canvas, to stone, to metal….. our techniques we learn start to become ART.
