How to exhibit my paintings in an Art gallery?

December 31st, 2009 by admin

I am a 57 year old artist. I have a Bachelor of Fine arts from India. Currently I am located near Detroit. I would be happy to get information on How to exhibit my paintings in an Art gallery in or around detroit.

You should see whats going on in your community..go to the local museum, and see if they do a local art shows, or display local artists..just ask the source, and get involved. ^.^

You probably can just google galleries in Detroit and call them up and ask them to display your work.

    do a banksy.
walk in and hang one up in a gallery.
its hard to get them in actual gallery’s. your best bet is to get a exhibition space.

Visit local galleries and see what type of work they display. If your work would fit in, bring some good quality photos of your work to the gallery during non-busy times. Ask the gallery owner or salesperson if they have time to see some of your work. Show them your photos and ask what suggestions they might have for you. At the very least you will learn something about what galleries are looking for in your area. Don’t be discouraged if you are not accepted the first time you try. You will need a large body of work before galleries will accept you. Have at least 30 or so paintings framed and ready to go before you approach a gallery.
