Women In Art [The Original Artwork] [Part 1]

Monday, January 25th, 2010

As beautiful as eggman913′s original “Women In Art” is, I knew many people wanted more. I created this video, which is part informational and part creativity, to hopefully entertain and inform people.

A special thanks to all of the website owners who provided photos of the art, and the YouTuber; “boniyetta” and his associates for identifying the artwork and artists.

Also, thank you to the music geniuses of the past, whose work I used in this project. This is some of the most beautiful and subtle music ever created.

Beethoven: “Moonlight Sonata”
Bach: “Air On The G String”
Debussy: “Clair de Lune”
Dvorak: “The New World”
[from Symphony #9]

Since my my videos are all longer that 10 minutes, YouTube makes me split them. I don’t like doing that but I do plan to upload them to google video which I hear does not have that limitation.

What’s the difference between a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Fine Arts?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I’m going to the Art Institute to get my BA in Interior Design. I’m currently going to the one in San Diego and will receive my BA of Science. In a few years before I graduate, I will move to Houston and finish my schooling at the art institute there. But their degree is a BA in Fine Arts. What’s the difference? Is one better than the other for interior design?

The joke when I was in college was that BA major’s got jobs where they had to say, "Do you want fries with that?", where as BS major’s got jobs in their field of study. All kidding aside.

How do you enjoy the art (paintings especially)?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I want to enjoy art the way I enjoy music, but I’m clueless. When I go to the art museum, I don’t really enjoy myself. Like I don’t know how to look at paintings other than literally looking at them. But I noticed by observing other people at the museum, some people spend quite a bit of time starring at each painting. For the people who enjoy looking at art paintings & spend a lot time looking at each painting, how are you spending your time? I mean how do you enjoy it?

A lot of what goes into the appreciation of art is knowing the history about it. What important events were going on at the time it was painted? How did this influence the painter? Who was the painter? Where was he/she from? How does a painting from Germany differ from a painting in Japan during the same time period? Most of the people looking at an artwork for more than 2 minutes know art very well and are asking themselves these questions.

What period was the French artist ‘Claude Joseph Vernet’ a part of? (Impressionism, Realism, ect.)

Neoclassicism: Claude-Joseph Vernet was a French Neoclassical painter, his work linked European landscape traditions of the s17th century with the Romantic vision of nature in the 19th century. How can I appreciate modern art?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Went to the Houston Art Museum. I’m no expert, but I have half a sense of art appreciation. If i don’t "get it" on an artistic level, I can at least appreciate the craft, attention to detail, time and effort it takes to create a work of art. Then there was the modern art. I couldn’t fathom it, nor could I appreciate the craft as it all looked so much like a rush job. How is a canvas with painted squares art? Or an acrylic cube filled with pink sand considered display worthy? I see no craft, nor any astetics. Am I missing something, or is modern art simply a statement that there is nothing left to explore?

People have written enough to fill an ocean on both sides of this debate. but if you’d like something to think about that might give you the context for this art think about this.

What is the difference between a Bachelor of Science Interior Design and Bachelor of Fine Arts Interior Design

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I have been looking at several schools, and some offer a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and some a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. What is the difference?

the BS egree usually requires that 50% of the credits must be in "the liberal arts". This means thatthe courses are not related to the major.

Art PAINTINGS (or others) that appreciate most frequently?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

What painting artist or kind of painting (or artworks) have the greatest appreciation frequency? Something that you can buy today, say, and next week re-sell it at a nice profit? Maybe through a mechanism like e-bay or something. Thanks

Many markets out there…realistic, contemporary, find one you like and research the heck out of it. Read reviews, history of etc. People who like abstracts don’t necessarily like still lifes. Research your market. It helps if you like it yourself. There is always someone out there who will like or dislike a painting. I am a realistic painter and so I favor the Dutch Masters, but I know a gallery owner who has an obsession with contemporary paintings with circles. There is room for all art out there..

Can you give me a detailed description of Renaissance and/or impressionism?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Please be detailed but use quite simple language answer can be as long as you like? The longer the better really.

Impressionism was a style of painting that developed in the mid-19th century. It was a reaction to the changing role of art in the presence of the growth of commercial illustration, photography, and the decline of wealthy patrons who were willing to support ‘fine’ artists. Artists were beginning to look around for themes that interested them for personal reasons rather than for the traditional reasons of pleasing patrons. A group of French artists became fascinated by the capturing the changing effects of light in paint. Instead of looking to highly detailed portraits or historical subjects, these artists were interested in the ‘impressions’ created by light, as though capturing the momentary essence of the subjects. As a result these painters allowed the paint itself build up and didn’t bother trying to create a smooth illusion as painters traditionally had done. Impressionist paintings are a little like our memories of a moment rather than a realistic snapshot. The primary painters in the impressionist school include, Monet, Sisley, Renior, Pissarro, Cezanne, Degas.
These Painters exhibited together in protest of the more traditional exhibitions of the Salon de Paris. They called their first exhibition the Salon de Refuses. (Salon of the Refused)

Art Collecting: the Essentials on Authenticating and Attributing Art

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

You can find art for sale almost anywhere, most of it coupled with a variety of forms of certification, documentation, authentication, provenance, attribution, and all other claims that the piece is by this artist, etc. But guess what? None of these papers, claims, certificates of authenticity, documents or even tall tales mean a thing if they’re not stated, authored, or else traceable to or directly associated with accepted, recognized, and qualified authorities about the art in question, and also the artist themselves.

Birdman’s Guide to Buying Art Online

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Some of the reasons for buying art online:

These days you can see just about every style of art there is to be seen online in the comfort of your own home or office. This saves you a tremendous amount of time where you don’t have to go walk around a huge gallery, drive a long distance and end up looking at art that you have no idea who painted it, what materials they used, etc. You’ll be surprised how many people just love art and are not experts on techniques, painters’ names or styles. Another benefit to buying art online is the fact that at most online galleries, you will get a short biography on the artist who painted the piece as well as the and their style & price. What if you have a question that isn’t answered at the online gallery you’re viewing? Well in the real world, sometimes finding someone to help answer your questions can take you a tremendous amount of time & there are even times when you won’t find anyone who can help you at all. When you browse online galleries you generally have the option to email the artist directly and then you can have your answer within minutes- depending on how busy the artist is and when they’re checking their email but that’s still a huge bonus over scouring an entire gallery for someone to help you.
