How much is the original Sailor Moon art book hardcover volume 5 worth?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I bought an original Naoko Takeuchi Sailor Moon art book around…probably 11 years ago. It has some minor wear from the years but the pages are perfect. All print and text are in Japanese, dated 1997. I see volumes 1-4 on ebay for around $100, the only volume 5 copy I’ve seen is listed at $499. If anyone knows more about these books, let me know! I don’t really have a need for it anymore and would like to sell it. Thanks!

o wow that’s alot! I love sailor moon! :)

Amazing Magnetic Art Sculpture!!

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

This art piece is by SACHIKO KODAMA and currenly on display at the Samuel Freeman Gallery at the Bergamot Station, in Santa Monica, CA. THIS VIDEO IS NOT TIME LAPSE. IT IS ALL FILMED AND PLAYED BACK IN REAL TME.

In 2000, Sachiko began work on a ferrofluid art project that she named “Protrude, Flow”.
Ferrofluid is a very interesting material originally developed by NASA it has now found itself been used for a whole range of devices including dampers for controlling and stabilizing large building that move around in the wind. Whats also amazing is that they have such lovely visual qualities when magnetized. The term liquid architecture is used a lot in interactive architecture based on the ideas of how architecture becomes animated by adding the 4th Dimension of Time. Sachiko has taken this idea of liquid architecture more literally with these stunning sculptures made from Ferrofluid which changes its state by the introduction of electro-magnetic waves into the fluid turning it solid. As you stand around and watch this piece, you get literally mesmerized as the ferrofluid (guided by magnets) follows its track and changes its forms.

Music is by Phillip Glass

Anybody know what original art by Inikumo is worth?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I have three original woodblock paintings signed with pencil and everything. Inikumo’s work has gone for six figures for large ones, I am wondering how much the ones I have are worth. They are all under 2′. Anyone?

Looking at expired auction results, we can see prices ranging from $70-$90. I wouldn’t expect to get more than that unless you can authenticate and they are rare somehow. To get a realistic figure, contact a professional art auction house (or Antiques Roadshow).

What do you think when you think of Modern Art?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

who, what, when, ect. I need to get opinions on what people think of Modern art for a class.
please respond with somewhat of an intelligent remark (only b/c this is for a class asignment and saying yuck is not really assisting me on what your opinion is.
this is a poll that i am required to take for my class assignment.. i already know what i think of it (being an art major)I need your opinion. like how do you feel when you look at it, what do you see, artists you think of , time period, architects, ect.

When I think of modern art I think that most people don’t even know what modern art is. Many think it is just the latest type of art being produced, hence the term modern. In fact it is a category for art produced in the late 19th to late 20th centuries. It also makes me think, for those that think it is crap, that they should take the velvet poster of Elvis down and actually take the time to go to a museum. Certainly, I don’t like all modern art, but in considering it I am reminded how photography had suddenly cut into an art form and taken it over. No more were portraits being done as often, with people deciding to take photographs instead of sitting for a painting. Artists of the time had to evolve to express ideas in a new way and modern art was that way.

Claude Monet

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Monet was the founder of impressionism, as it was a painting he did in 1872, titled “Impression, Sunrise”, which had a baffled art critic pick out the word “impression” to describe, at the time, the relatively new art trend. The soundtrack in this piece is the first 3 minutes and 45 seconds of Chopin’s “Piano Concerto No. 1 In E minor, Op.11: Romance – Larghetto”.
